August Blog Hop

Tonight is another Papertrey Blog Hop.

The challenge this month was to to alter a CD case into something other than it's original purpose.

This is what I came up with.

I started with one of the clear CD calender cases that Papertrey is now carrying, then I covered the front and spine with some 6x6 Guidelines patterened paper. When I was done with that I stamped the word RECIPE on the spine using the Simple Alphabet Set

To decorate the inside I cut out the letters with my Cuttlebug for the word RECIPES using the Cuttlebug Your Not The Boss Of Me alphabet and lightweight chipboard. I colored the letters with Colorbox pigment ink and then edged them with a brown pen. I finished the letters off by adding some Crystal Effects to give them some shine and dimension, then I glued them to the top of the inside back panel of the CD holder.
I typed and formatted the recipe on my computer then printed it out on some Papertrey Stampers Select White cardstock. After that I matted the printed recipe on some Dark Chocolate Cardstock and some more patterned paper from the Guidelines paper pack. I finished off the recipe card by stamping the cupcake and stars from the It's A Celebration Set with Dark Chocolate and Plum Pudding Ink and then finished off the cupcake with some purple stickles. The finished recipe card size is 4 5/8x 45/8. .

This is a picture showing how to store the recipes when the holder is closed. There is plenty of room to add more recipes too

Emilia and I made the cupcakes together this weekend. I got the recipe from an episode I saw on The Martha Stewart Show last week. Emilia is allergic to milk so this recipe was perfect for her and for anyone else that is allergic to eggs and nuts too. I use a similar recipe for Emilia's birthday cakes but wanted to give this one a try. Emilia and Rich really liked them. You should give them a try too.

Well that's it I hope you like what I came up with. If you have any questions feel free to ask and I will try and answer them. I look forward to seeing what the other gals have come up with tonight too. As always thanks for stopping by and have a great night.

I love this idea! It's great too because the recipe could stay inside and protected from inevitable spills!

So pretty and it stands on it's own so it'd better than a cookbook. I could even see making a lot of recipe cards and changing them out. Neato!
