A Poodle Party

Happy Monday again. I hope your weekend was a good one. It finally cooled off a little here on Saturday so we went to play mini golf. It was fun and nice to be outside without sweltering. The heat has returned now though and we are back to the 90's for most of the week.
This has been the hottest summer on record. I am ready for some cooler weather but definitely not snow.
This was the first time since the Papertrey Bloghops started that I didn't participate. I was just not inspired by this months challenge and I have been busy working on a first birthday cupcake party for a buyer. While waiting to finalize things for the cupcake party I had some time to start a new party theme that has been on my list for awhile. Thankfully all my electronics are working again too this is what I have come up with so far. This is the invitation.
I used this months Sketch For You to try for the layout. The patterned paper and poodle are from this digital paper pack. The balloon was cut with my silhouette then stamped with the you're invited stamp set from the PTI Tiny Tags set. A small pink bow was added to the balloon with a tiny black dot. I  I cut the poodle out with my Silhouette and attached it with foam tape to give it dimension. A tiny party hat complete with a pom pom and scalloped trim was placed on the poodles head to finsih it off.
I also made this Favor Bag to go with it.
Inside you will find this
I have also been wanting to make one of these cupcake purses for awhile now and this was the perfect time to give it a try. I love the way it came out. You can get the svg file here. I used more of the digital paper that I used on the card, then I created a thank you tag with Silhouette Designer Studio and added another poodle to the middle. I think these would make great favors for guests to take with them. They could also hold other small items such as Webkins. I still plan on making a matching banner, hat and cupcake toppers to go with this party theme so be sure to check back because I will be adding more things as I make them. That's all for now. I hope your week ahead is a good one and it is cooler where you are.

Celebrations

Happy Monday. I hope your weekend was a good one. Sorry for the lack of posts. Things have been a bit crazy around here. Emilia started a new homeschool highschool program called Keystone last week. So far she really likes it. I ended up getting a big order on Etsy for birthday invitiations that had to be done in 5 days and my Silouette started cutting wrong in the middle of the process. I was freaking out because I also kept losing paper and there was not enough time to order more. Thankfully I was finally able to get them all cut by turning the machine off and only cutting a few at a time. After speaking with Silouette they had me do an update and it seems to be working better now. My Vagabond also decided to give me trouble last week too. The button that makes it work kept getting stuck. It seems to be working okay again now though. Finally to top it all off my only VCR that I use to do Tai Chi stopped working. I am hoping a good cleaning will fix it but the cleaning tape I ordered came damaged so I have to wait for a new one. Hopefully this week will be less hectic and things will stop breaking.
Today I am celebrating 2 things.
First it is my sisters birthday. She means the world to me so I wanted to make her a very special card. She loves roses so when I saw this card I knew it would be perfect for her. I made a few changes on mine though. I used Mat Stack 5 instead of 4 and added a Happy Birthday Sentiment  and a pearl. I won't see her until Thursday but I think she is going to really like it.
Also 5 years ago today I started this blog. It is hard to believe that much time has gone by since then. I have not been able to blog as much as I have in the past but still enjoying doing it when I can and am thankful for all of you that still take the time to stop by and  read it. That's all for now. I hope the rest of your week is a great one.

18 Years

Happy Friday. I hope your week was a good one. It is still hot here. We have broken a record for the most 90 degree days in a row this summer but that streak is about to end and it is only going to be in the 80's tomorrow.
18 years ago today Rich and I got married. It is hard to believe that much time has passed since then. Marriage is not easy but in today's world being with someone for 18 years is definitely something to celebrate. We don't have plans to do anything special   but I did make him this card.

Making masculine cards is not easy for me and I am starting to run out of ideas for cards to make him but came up with this idea yesterday. Not one of my best but hopefully he still liked it. It is the thought that counts right? The birds are from the bird watching set which has never seen ink until now. The sentiment and die cut are from Fillable Frames #4. Father Knows Best Patterned Paper and some twill tape ribbon finishes it off. That's all for now. I hope your weekend is a great one.
