May Papertrey Bloghop

It's time for another Papertrey Bloghop.

This month the challenge was to use Felt in our projects.

This is what I came up with

I made the mini cupcake pincushion using Papertrey's Dark Chocolate felt. I cut the base from a cupcake liner and sewed circles that were cut using circle Nestabilities with the blanket stitch. The scalloped topping was cut from Papertrey's Vintage Cream and Felt On The Fly pink felt. I finished it off with a yo yo flower made from some fabric I had in my stash and a Pure Poppy button.

I also made matching packaging to go with it too using PTI's Dark chocolate, Sweet Blush and Bazzil Sprout cardstock. The polka dots were punched from the Sprout cardstock and added to the Sweet Blush pieces. The bottom Sprout pieces were embossed with the Sizzix dots embossing folder. The box was made from the SVG Hey Cupcake Template that I resized to fit the cupcake and was designed by Leigh Ann Baird. She has lots of other great templates that she sells there too so be sure to check them out.
I am also entering this project in this weeks Jugs template Challenge and the Shabby Tea Rooms Polka dot Challenge as well.
I look forward to seeing what everyone else has come up with now. As always thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great night!

Papertrey Peeps Challenge #7

I hope you all had a happy mother's day that celebrated it The weather here has been awful since I last wrote. It has felt like October instead of May. We have had snow, rain and cold almost everyday last week. I forgot to mention in my last post that we planted our vegetable garden last weekend. We were really worried about the plants surviving with this weather but we were able to cover them. Hopefully that helped. They say it is suppose to warm up this week. I sure hope so because I can't take much more of it. These are photos of the garden right after we planted it. I will take more photos to share with you as it hopefully grows.

Unfortunately the weather didn't help my mojo any either. I have been working on the card I am sharing today for almost a week. I finally got it done yesterday though.
This card was made for the current Peeps Challenge #7 that is hosted by Nerina. The challenge was to find a photo from The Creative Mint blog and make something based on it. This blog is already a favorite of mine so I was very excited about this challenge. There are so many beautiful photos to choose from so it was hard to pick just one. This is the photo I chose

This is what I came up with

My main inspiration for this card were the Dahlia's and the colors. The Dahlia's were made with the Delightful Dahila stamps and a watercolor Batik technique that I will be doing a video on soon. I cut the tag using my Cricut and Lauren Meaders Tag Your It Cut File. Then I stamped the tag with Background Basics Text Style and distressed the edges using chai ink. The Background paper is from the pretty pastels paper pack. The flourishes were cut from a die and angel wings glitter was added. A piece of violet Cabbage Patch Rose Ribbon from MemrieMare Etsy shop was added to the top of the tag. Some machine stitching and a piece of SU Orchid Opulence Cardstock finishes it off.
This card is very different from my usual style but I think I am liking it. I hope you do too. That's it for now. I hope to be back Tuesday with that video to share with you, Until then thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great week!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all the mommies that read my blog! I feel like everyday is mothers day around here because I was blessed to be given the chance to be a mother. Emilia will always be my best gift. It is pretty much just a normal day around here since my mom didn't want to do anything special, she will be by later to pick up her gift though. Rich surprised me with a PTI gift certificate and Emilia got me this bracelet that I am have been wanting for awhile now though. I am also very thankful to have a wonderful mother too. She is the reason I am the mother I am today. My sister and I gave her a gift certificate for a facial but I wanted to make her something special too. When I asked her what she would like she said she needed a new checkbook cover so that is what I made her.

I got the pattern from this blog. The material is Daisy Chain from Amy Butler. I made the flower by cutting out the scallop shapes with my Cricut and Cuttlebug dies using PTI Hawaiian Shores Felt. The rest was from Felt On The Fly. After I was done making the flower I attached it to the cover with Heat and Bond.
The inside looks like this.

I also saw this cute template last week and thought it would be perfect to package the checkbook cover in.

I made the base from Tempting Turquoise Cardstock that I ran though my Cuttlebug using a Sizzix Embossing folder. The Pattern paper was from Martha Stewart.
I included this tiny note card in the inside pocket too.

That's it for now. I hope the rest of your day will be a great one and I will be back soon with more things to share.

3 Challenge Card

I hope you all had a good weekend. It has been cooler than normal here but at least the sun was shinning. I was finally able to get something new finished today. I wish I could make more than 1 new thing made a week but my perfectionism is getting in the way again. The card I am sharing with you today was originally made for Betsy Veldmans Sketch Challenge.

Then I incorporated these colors from the current Color Cue Challenge

And finally I was inspired by a part of the quilt from the Shabby Tea Room Comforts of Home Challenge for the background.
This is what I came up with

I started by stamping the background with images from the PTI Giga Guides and Guide Lines 2 stamp sets using Summer Sunrise, Berry Sorbet and Brocade Blue Ink. When I was done stamping the background I machine stitched it to look like a real quilted background. It is hard to see in the photo though. Next I stamped the Mat Stack die with the image that came in the Anniversary set that goes with it with Versamark Ink then embossed it with white embossing powder. After I was done with that I stamped the butterfly from the Butterfly Dreams set on Stampers Select White Cardstock using Summer Sunrise Ink then I cut it out with a circle punch. Next I added it to the middle of the mat stack piece and drew tiny dots with a Brocade Blue marker around the circle. When I was done with that I added a bow made from Berry Sorbet Grosgrain Ribbon and attached a matching button that was threaded with Twine. Finally I added 2 small butterflies also from the butterfly Dreams set that I stamped with Brocade Blue ink to the ends of the twine with glue dots.
That's it for now. I plan on working on my moms mother's day gift this week and hope to be back soon to share it with you. In the meantime have a great week and thanks for stopping by.
