Color Inspiration #17 and the July Blog Hop

I am posting this early so I can enter it in Kristina Werners color Inspiration challenge #17 too. I will be back tomorrow with more details about the card for the Papertrey blog hop.

Tonight is the Papertrey July Blog Hop
The challenge this month was to do something with Vellum. I got the directions and the template for the bottom half of the dress here but I embossed the flowers from the Beautiful Blooms set with white embossing powder onto some vellum I already had and then colored the open parts of my images with Copic markers R85 and RV29 instead of just stamping on it. When I was done with that I drew the template for the top half of the dress and cut it out of the vellum then I embossed and colored it the same way I did the bottom half of the dress. Next I added a piece of 1/4" white grosgrain ribbon that I colored with my YG91 copic maker to the waist and added a belt buckle with my white gel pen. The Regal Rose layer was embossed with the script cuttlebug folder. The ribbon on the left side is 5/8 white grosgrain ribbon that was colored with my YG91 copic Marker. The flower was colored with Copic Marker RV29. I also used Jen Delmuro's Saturday sketch this week for the layout. That's it. Happy Birthday Richie!

Today is my hubbies 40th birthday. He is not happy about turning 40 but I told him that age is just a number and enjoy it. He went to play golf with his dad this morning. Tonight we will have a special birthday dinner for him. His dad is making his special lamb and Emilia and I made him his favorite chocolate chip cookies for desert. Emilia and I also went to a paint your own pottery place a few weeks ago and painted a mug for him. This is the card I made that we are going to give him with it. He loves beer so I thought this would be appropriate. I used Lauren's Saturday Sketch to start off with. I created the cup using a real cup as a template and then traced it on to some velum. When I was done with that I sponged on SU So Saffron ink and used Liquid Applique to create the foam on top then I layered it on a piece of White cardstock. I stamped the saying from the Papertrey Birthday Basics set with Versamark ink and embossed it with black embossing powder. The #40 was doing with stickers. Cardstock is Kraft, Bazzill Java and Papertrey Father Knows Best I hope he likes it.
On another note what I thought was my new release Papertrey order arrived yesterday but it wasn't my order. It was for another Terry Moore that lives in Oregon but was sent to my address instead. I am really bummed about this because the quilt set was one of the things I ordered and was suppose to be in my package but it is already sold out now. I have emailed Papertrey but am still waiting to hear back from Juile about this. I have also emailed the other Terry Moore about this too but she has not gotten her/my package yet but it is suppose to arrive today. Once it arrives hopefully we will be able to work something out with Papertrey so we can both get the right packages to each other soon.

Masking and Stippling Video

This is the card I created for the technique video I promised you in my last post. It took me all day yesterday to figure out how to get the supply list added on to the end of the video but I finally figured it out. Another Thursday

I can't believe it is Thursday again. Where do the weeks go?
This is another sample that I made with the stamps from my June Lasting Impressions With Panache pkg. I started with SCS sketch 183. I stamped the bathtub stamp on Papertrey Stampers select white cardstock with Versafine Black Ink and then masked it so I could put the Spring Spray flowers inside. It took me what felt like a hundred tries to get it to work but it finally did. I colored the flowers and the rim of the bathtub with my Copics then I paper piece the front of the bathtub with a piece of cardstock from the Memory Box Sugar collection . For the piece on the right side I used the same paper that I used on the bathtub but ran it through my Cuttlebug script embossing folder. I finished the card up by adding some dew drops. The cardstock colors that were used were Black, SU Certainly Celery, Almost Amethyst and Rose Red. that's it hope you like it.

Tea Cups

This is another sample I made for Lasting Impressions With Panache. I started by embossing with a square Nestabilities die in the middle of a piece of Papertrey Stampers Select White Cardstock. After that I followed this tutorial to make a border around it with the cuttlebug dots embossing folder. When I was done with that I stamped the 2 cups with Black Versafine ink and colored in the teacups using the ink from Papertrey's perfect match stamp pads Spring Moss, Berry Sorbet, Plum Pudding, Lavender Moon and a blender pen. I highlighted some of the design on the cups with my white gel pen. After I was done with that I took a piece of Papertrey's Spring Moss Cardstock and did the grid technique that I learned how to do on Debbie Olson's blog with my Score Pal then I attached a piece of Papertrey Guidelines pattern paper for the bottom half. Next I added a piece of Papertrey Plum pudding saddlestitch ribbon in the middle of both pieces and attached the main image. I matted the finished piece with black cardstock. Finished size is 5x5".

Boards and Beams Key Chain

This is the other project I submitted for this months Papertrey Guest Star Stamper Contest. I got the idea from Carolyn King's blog. I thought it would be cool to make one out of shrink plastic instead though. I started by stamping the country house from the Boards and Beams set on shrink plastic with black Versafine Ink. After that I flipped it over and colored the image with my Copics. When I was done with that I cut the colored image out and punched a hole in it for the key chain to go through then I baked it in my oven to shrink it. I was really happy with how it came out even though it is a little small. I am going to have to play with shrink plastic and my stamps more often now.
I went to place my order last night for the new Papertrey sets I wanted after they released them but could not get in to the website so I went to bed. When I went to place my order this morning one of the sets I wanted was already sold out so I am really bummed about that! I still ended up placing a large order though. Address Sign

This is one of the things I submitted for this months Papertrey Gueststar Stamper Contest. One of the contest categories was to come up with a housewarming gift using the Boards and Beams set. After having an Oprah Ah Ha moment this what I came up with. I started with a plain wood plaque that I got a Hobby Lobby. I stamped the images on it with Versamark Ink and embossed them with fine black detailed embossing powder. After that I colored the images with my copics and used a white gel pen to color the fence. When I was done with that I painted the background with acrylic paints and used a sponge with Palette New Canvas ink to make some clouds. When everything was dry I added the numbers. To finish it off I edged the border with a gold paint pen and weatherproofed it with a clear matte sealant. Tonight is the Papertrey release of the new sets this month. Colorful Swirls

Sorry for posting so late but unfortunately today did not start off so great and threw off the rest of my day. Our 100hr DVR bit the dust! :( Dish Network is sending us a new one but I lost all the shows I had recorded on it. Most of the shows on there were The Views that I had not finished watching yet but I have decided it is not the end of the world. At least I had seen all the Hot Topics and that is my favorite part, the other shows I lost I can catch on the computer. The one thing we lost that we can't replace is the Homeschooling interview Emilia and I did a few yrs ago for our local news station. Oh well. We should have the new DVR by Wednesday. In the meantime I am borrowing the one from Emilia's room. I just hope this does not mean it is going to be a week of electronics breaking. I hate it when that happens. I am trying to think positive though and hopefully this was just an isolated incident. :) By the way speaking of TV I have added another show to the ones I watch, it is "The Worlds Greatest Dog". One of my clients told me about it on Friday so Emilia and I watched the first episode we missed today on the computer and it was great. Can't wait for the next one. Now on to the card. This is another sample I made for LIWP. I had seen a card similar to it in the book Card Design by Dave Brethauer. I stamped the brush swirl background stamp with Versamark and embossed it with black embossing powder on 140# hot press watercolor paper. This is the first time I have used hot press watercolor paper and I really like it because it is smooth which makes it easier to stamp on. After that I used my Faber Castell watercolor pencils to color the image and blended them with my waterbrush then I added the dots with a black sharpie. I finished the watercolored image by matting it with Bazzill cardstock. Finished size 5x5" I hope you like it. Lean On Me

Sorry for not posting anything all week. I have been busy working on my Lasting Impressions With Panache Samples and Papertrey Guest star Stamper entry. Emilia and I also started school again this week. I finally got a chance to take pictures of what I have been working on today so I can share them with you. This is the first card I made for LIWP. I used a new TJ technique called Faux Handmade Paper for the lower right panel. I stamped the elephants in Versafine black ink and colored them in with my prismcolor pencils and blended them with gamsol. I colored the sky background with my B000 Copic and used E31 and the colorless blender to give the dirt some texture. I matted those two pieces on SU Kraft and black cardstock. I added a piece of 5/8" grosgrain white ribbon that I colored with my B000 Copic then I added a piece of black gingham ribbon on top of that. To finish the card off I added 2 black brads. Card size is 5x5".
In TV land I was right about my Bachlorette prediction. The Colorado guy gets the girl again. I hope it works out for both of them. Big Brother Starts again tomorrow night and I am really excited about that. I am also still watching The Next Food Network Star, Denise Richards, Jon and Kate plus 8, The Mole, America's Got Talent, Tori and Dean, So You Think You Can Dance, Sheer Genius, My Life on the D List, Hopkins, and The Dog Whisperer. Well that's it for now I am off to watch the season finale of Hells Kitchen on my computer because I forgot to tape it. I will be back again tomorrow with something else to share. Backyard Renovation

I hope you all are having a happy 4th! We took the dogs to the dog park this morning and ran some errands but other than that we are not doing anything special. I wanted to share some pictures of our backyard renovation today. We bought this house a little over 3 yrs ago now. When we moved in the backyard had been completely resodded. Unfortuately without a sprinkler system and the dogs peeing on the grass most of it quickly died. The bids to put a sprinkler system in were insane so we just lived with it the way it was for the last few years. This was the year we decided we were definiately going to do something about it because we could not live with it the way it was any longer. Rich designed the layout with some input from me and we found this great guy name Buzz to do the work. Above are some before and after pictures. We are thrilled with how it came out and look foward to enjoying it it now. If you have any questions let me know.

FDBP Final Day of Guest Designer Cards

This is my final day of showing you what I created for my guest designer position at Firecraker Designs By Pamela this month.
The card was originally inspired by this
pillow I saw in Emilia's dentist office a few months ago.
I started by doing an old TJ technique called Gel and Acetate. I stamped the butterflies from the Butterflies-'Fly' set on a piece of acetate and then embossed them with fine detailed black embossing powder. After that I colored them with my gel pens. I embossed the saying with black detailed embossing powder as well. I used SCS sketch 181 for the layout. The cardstock behind the butterflies is CTMH Citrus leaf. The background cardstock is CTMH Ocean. I finished the whole thing off by using the SU ticket corner punch and adding some silver brads. I hope you have enjoyed the things I made for Pam the last few days. FDBP Guest Designer Card Day 4

Thankfully Rich made it through his surgery okay yesterday and is doing well. I just hope that the procedure solved the problem and he will not be in anymore pain.
I ending up seeing that Deanna said goodbye to Jeremy on the Bachlorette last night. I have not had a chance to watch the show yet though. I have a feeling she picks Jesse now but I will have to watch last nights show first to stick with that pick so I will let you know what I think after I watch it.
Now on to the card. This is the 4th sample I made for Pam.
Once again I got the inspiration for this one from Michelle Zindorf. I did not have any luck with her brayering technique to blend the colors, it is a lot harder than it looks but I did have much better luck doing it with sponges though. I started by stamping the images from the Create a Scene Set and the Solid set. Then I colored them in with my Prismacolor pencils and blended them with gamsol. After that I colored over the images with a Versamark pen and embossed them with clear embossing powder. When I was done with that I sponged the sunset in the background using SU Summer Sun, Pumpkin Pie and Really Rust classic inksI finished it off with a simple black mat that I pierced holes in using my SU mat pack.
