January Sketch For You To Try and More Hearts

Happy Saturday! I hope your week was a good one. It is a beautiful day here today. We just got back from a new dog park in our area. It was a lot of fun. I hope the nice weather will stick around for awhile so we can go back soon.
I finally got a chance to make something with this months Sketch For You to Try. I am no longer a part of the design team because I did not have time to fulfill the new requirements this year but I still plan on using the sketch once a month. This is the sketch

This is what I came up with

I shrank down the sketch to 4.25 x 4.25 inches to make these cute kid Valentine cards.
I started by stamping the images from Tiny Treats Valentine on circles that I diecut with circle Nestibilities then I colored the images with Copics. The girl card was made with patterned paper from the Simple Valentine Paper Pack,Hibiscus and Pure Poppy Cardstock. The boy card was made with Beautiful Blooms Patterned Paper and Pure Poppy and Kraft Cardstock. I embossed the back panels with tiny dots then finished them off with ribbon and buttons.
I was also able to finish the felt heart pincushion I talked about in the last post

This one was made by cutting hearts using Nestabilities Heart dies from Pure Poppy and Vintage Cream felt. I blanket stitched them together with red floss then added a loop of vintage cream ribbon. I finished it off with a Hibiscus Felt rolled rose cut using the My Favorite Things medium rose die.
Continuing with my 365 photo challenge I wanted to share this photo Emilia took of Sophie last week. It is hard to get a good photo of her because of how dark she is but I love how this one came out! She doesn't look like a killer(squirrels) does she?

That's all for now. I will be back next week for the Papertrey Bloghop. Until then I hope the rest of your weekend is great one!

I really like the square cards--so great for Valentines-- and I love the bright cheerful papers. Your felt pincushion is adorable too! Emilia's photo of your lab is fabulous. My stepson had a black lab and I know what you mean about trying to get good pictures. It's a real challenge!

Great picture of you dog; I have a black cat, and I know how difficult it is to take a picture of him.
