Happy Saturday! I hope your week was a good one. It is unseasonably warm here today. The forecast said is was going to be 86 but I think they were wrong. It is only 73 right now but I am happy with that.
Today I want to share a holiday project with you that I have been working on all week. I know it is only October but December will be here before we know it so I am getting a head start now. I am a big fan of Melissa Phillips work and her stamp sets for Papertrey Ink. When I saw Erin Lincoln's brilliant idea to use the images in Melissa's Love Lives Here Holiday Set with Tag Sale Die #4 I was immediately inspired. This is what I came up with.
I started by using thin cardboard and Erin's technique for the base of the ornament and angel. After that I added a piece of cardstock from this paper pack that I machine stitched to the top of the ornament. Next I added a stamped angel then I added a tiny sign that I made by stamping the Merry Christmas Sentiment from Mixed messages and the tiny bough from LLHH then I added a thin piece of wire so it looks like she is holding the sign, I finished it off with tiny star and music note wings that I distressed. Enchanted Saddle stitched Ribbon was added to the top. After finishing the ornament I created a 4.25 inch card with plaid paper from this shop then I added a strip of music note patterned paper on top but instead of stitching the whole thing down I left a little open in the middle so the ornament can be detached. I did this by adding a tiny piece of folded cardstock on the back of the ornament. I also stamped the year.
Since our Christmas tree is in storage I took a photo of the ornament hanging on a bush in my front yard.
Because the card is so bulky it won't fit in a regular envelope so I decided to created a matching box for it. This is what I came up with
I made the box using this SVG file and Enchanted Evening Cardstock. I added another layer of cardstock to the top that was embossed with tiny dots. After that I added a belly band made from Vintage Cream Cardstock and more of the matching cardstock that I used on the card. Next I die cut fillable frames #4 and stamped the matching image. Finally I added the sentiment from LLHH to finish it off.
Now you have the perfect gift! A card, box and ornament all in one. I am really happy with how this came out. I hope you like it too.
I am also entering this in Wee Memories Challege #72
That's all for now I hope the rest of your weekend is a great one and I will be back soon with more to share.

Terri, this is wonderful! i definitely need to try this technique--looks like a great way to make ornaments. I haven't even touched my set yet. Too much going on with the wedding and trip. Love your version--complete with its own box too!
