September PTI Blog Hop and Pink Saturday

ETA: I decided to enter this project in the Etsy Sheteam October challenge. The challenge this month is to make something for breast cancer awareness. I thought this bag was perfect for that. I even added a ribbon and the word Hope to the back.
The bag is now up for sale in my Etsy shop and 20% of the proceeds will be donated to breast cancer research.

It is time for another Papertrey Blog Hop.

The challenge this month was to go green and reuse, repurpose or recycle packaging from our Papertrey packages. Since the project I made is Pink I am sharing it for Pink Saturday this week too. You can find out more about Pink Saturday and see the list of the other participants on Beverly's Blog.
For this months challenge I knew I wanted to use the clear boxes the stamps come in since I have a ton of them saved from all the stamps I have bought now. I also used some of the white tissue paper for this project that the stamps come wrapped in as well.
This is what I came up with.

I had seen this post on Nicole Headys blog to make bags like these a few months ago. I do not have the Clearly Creative card boxes she used so I substituted the clear stamp boxes I have. They are a different size but they still work. I started by cutting 1 1/2 inches off the top. Next I printed out a grid template my husband created for me on a piece of Stampers select Vintage Cream Cardsock then I used images from the original Guidelines set and stamped them with Berry Sorbet and Spring Moss Ink. When I was done with that I cut the stamped cardstock to fit inside the clear box then put it inside the box. After that I cut some Spring Moss Cardstock the same size as the stamped piece and lined the inside of the box with it. I then added some Saddle Stitched Hibiscus Ribbon for the handles.

Once again I had to improvise because I wanted to use the white tissue paper that came with my package and I didn't have the same punch she used. I ended up filling a mini mister with water then I added some Hibiscus reinker and some pink pearl ex. I shook it up really good to mix it then I sprayed it on the tissue paper and let it dry. After that I cut 4 pieces of the dyed tissue paper using my Marvey Mega Scalloped punch then I stamped them with the one of the single images in the Damask Set using Hibiscus Ink. When I was done with that I added a Spring Moss button to the middle of the flower (Thanks Beth!) and attached it with some twine then I stitched it on to the card box and tied it off. Lastly I scrunched up the tissue paper and the flower was created. There are lots of things you could use this little bag for. It would make great packaging for small gifts or you could even use it as a real bag. A cell phone, keys and some money would fit perfectly in it. The finished size of the bag is 41/2 x 6. Technique Tuesday

Today is the first day of fall and it definitely feels like it here. The high today is only suppose to be in the low 50's and we may even wake up to snow tomorrow. YUCK! It is suppose to be back in the 70's by the end of the week though.

A Sweet New Year

Once again sorry for the lack of posting. This time I have a good reason though. My Dell laptop died last Saturday and I had to get a new computer. This time I got a Toshiba. I sure hope it lasts longer than the Dell did. I only had that one for 2 years. It was really not a good time to be buying something so expensive but thank goodness for Best Buy and their promotions because I have 18 months to pay it off with no interest.
Last night was the finale of Big Brother 11. We were all happy to see Jordan win and even happier to see Jeff get the viewers choice. Tonight is the finale of America's got Talent, I have not had time to watch the final performances but I am still hoping the Barbara Padilla wins. Her voice is just amazing and she seems like a really wonderful person.
Friday night is the start of Rosh Hashanah. In honor of the holiday I decided to make my Nana's honey cake recipe. I even have the pan she use to bake it in.
She passed on many years ago but I have a lot of great memories of her. She was my favorite grandparent. I like to cut the cake into squares
so I decided the My Timeless Template Get a Handle on it would be a great thing to package it in.

I cut a window in the front and added some acetate so you can see what is inside. I used Pure Poppy, Ripe Avocado and Summer Sunrise cardstock. The images are from the Honey Bees and Teachers apple sets to signify something sweet. The sentiment is from The Mazel Tov Set and was stamped and embossed.

I have put this box up for sale in my Etsy shop if anyone is interested in buying one. They can be used for other occasions as well and I can also change the sentiment too.

Autumn Tag

Sorry for not posting anything all week time seems to have gotten away from me again. I hope you all had a good Labor Day yesterday. Rich spent the weekend taking down Emilias pool so we know summer is really over now even though we are suppose to have a few more weeks of it. This year we planted a vegetable garden but because it was so cool and rainy most of the summer we have not gotten many vegetables.
As you can see our tomato plants are huge and have lots of green tomatoes on them but they are not turning red. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to get them to ripen faster? We have gotten quite a few cucumbers, eggplant and a few zucchini so far though.
Today also brings the start of the new daytime TV season for some of my favorite talk shows. I am so happy to see the ladies of The View back again. I love hearing them talk about what is going on in the world. Regis and Kelly and Ellen are back too. Next week will bring the return of Oprah as well an other favorite of mine. The nighttime summer tv season is winding down now. I was really sad to see Jeff go home on BB. I am rooting for Jordan or Kevin to win now. My favorite on Americas Got Talent so far is Barbara Bedia. Emilias is Voices of Glory.
Today I am sharing a project I made for this months challenge in my Sheteam Group on Etsy. This month the challenge was the colors of fall or Halloween items. I went with the colors of fall and this is what I came up with.

I started by making some more crochet flower clips like I have shared in previous posts but in fall colors but this time. This time I wanted to create something to put them on so I decided to make a tag. I stamped The Angel Company leaf images with Versamark ink on a manila shipping tag and then embossed them with clear embossing powder. Next I used some different color distress inks with the blending tool to create the fall colors. After that I cut some slits in the tag to hold the barrettes and then tied a piece of Olive Binding ribbon through the hole. I think this would make a great gift because it is something different than a card and can be tied to packages too. It is now up for sale in my Etsy shop if anyone is interested in buying it. Week Of Hope

It is hard to believe that it is September 1st. Where does the time go? I know this year has been a difficult one for a lot of us due to economy. I lost another nail client last week which was very discouraging especially since I only had a few left. This week I am participating in The Week Of Hope. This event is when retailers across America are coming together to bring HOPE to our country, one card or letter at a time. You can read more about it at the Hope is in the Cards Website In honor of this event I am offering free postage with all my cards in my Etsy shop this week and created this card to start it off.

I began with last weeks Mojo Monday sketch. I have had the sentiment from Club Scrap for a long time but it has never seen ink until now. When I heard about this event I knew it would be a great time to finally put it to use. I started the card by stamping the sentiment on Papertrey Stampers Select White Cardstock with Versamark Ink. Then I embossed it with brown embossing powder, cut it out with an oval Nestabilitie die and then ran some Dark Chocolate ink around the edges. The aqua piece behind it was made with the Simple Whitewash Technique from the current TJ Newsletter and edged with more Chocolate ink as well. The top piece of cardstock is from the Everyday Blessing Paper pack and the bottom piece was made by stamping images from the Damask Design Set on Dark Chocolate Cardstock and embossed with clear embossing powder. To finish the card off I did some machine stitching with brown thread and added pearls in each corner. The color combo was one of Dawns picks from week 4 and I really like it. That's it for now.
