June Papertrey Bloghop

Tonight is the June Papertrey Bloghop
This month the challenge is to use our favorite Papertrey color scheme.
As most of you know I love bright colors. 2 of my favorites are turquoise and red so that is what I went with.

I also used Stampers Select White Cardstock too.

This is what I came up with

I started by cutting out the SVG Top Notch Box template designed by Leigh Ann Baird using Stampers Select White Cardstock. After I put the box together I added pieces of Hawaii Shores Cardstock that I ran through my Cuttlebug using the Sunshine Impression plate. When I was done with that I added a piece of red polka dot paper from the Beautiful Blooms paper pack to the front flap. Next I added a flower that I cut out using a Beautiful Blooms 3 die then added a punched circle from Pure Poppy Cardstock to the middle of the flower. Finally I placed the flower on a 3/4" circle that was cut from Pure Poppy cardstock. Inside the box you will find 4 matching notecards.

That's it for now. I ended up getting very sick last night with what I think was an abdominal migraine this time. I have never had one of those and I pray I never have one again. Thankfully I am feeling better now and am looking forward to seeing what everyone else comes up with. It may take me a few days to get through all the blogs though. As always thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great night.

Happy Father's Day and an Update

I can't believe it has been almost 2 weeks since my last post. A lot has happened since then. First off thanks for all the concern about my migraines. Thankfully they have been better since the last post. The eye doctor turned out to be a big waste of time. He did not find anything wrong with my eyes but he didn't dilate them either which has me a bit concerned. I thought they always did that? He felt my blurry vision was from dry eyes. Not sure if I buy that. I am suppose to use some moisturizing eye drops to see if that will help if not I am suppose to call him back. So far I have not seen much of a difference.
Last weekend the weather was horrible. It was so cold I had to turn the heat back on. All it did was rain for 3 days. Thankfully summer came back on Monday and it is in the 80's again.
On Monday the day started out great! My Mother's Shaker Keepsake box was on the front page of Etsy and finally sold!

Later that day I decided to start cleaning my craft closet. That turned into a 2 day event. 3 garbage bags and 2 giveaway bags later it is done. I can't believe all the stuff that was crammed into it. It still looks full but at least the doors are not bulging out anymore. We still have to put new rollers on it though.
Wednesday night I went down to get some paper in my craft room and smelled something bad. I thought it was a bottle of polish since my craft room is my nail room too but I couldn't find anything. I decided to check in one of my stamp cupboards and found the culprit. A can of red spray paint had exploded everywhere. What a mess. After about an hour I finally got it pretty much cleaned up. I lost a few Cuttlebug B plates in the process but was able to save everything else. My hands were covered in red after that but are finally looking white again thankfully. Later that night I also discovered that Rich had accidentally thrown out my $40.00 set of knitting needles with the recycling because they were under a stack of newspapers. Not a good day.
I spent most of Thursday making a list of TAC stamps I want to sell since I am no longer a demo for them and need to make more room for my PTI stamps. If anyone is interested in seeing the list let me know. So far I have lots of sets from the 2005-2006 catalog listed at half price and ready to go. Some are even brand new so you are getting a great deal.
Yesterday I finally got a chance to stamp. I was planning on making a card for Rich for fathers day and then saw this challenge on Betsy Veldmans Blog. After I saw that I knew this shirt of Rich's would be my inspiration.

This is what I came up with.

The background was made with an image from the Distressed Stripes set and Ripe Avocado, Simply Chartreuse, Enchanted Evening and Brocade Blue inks. The sentiment is a free digi from Paper Makeup stamps. They are also having a contest for using it too. I cut out the sentiment using the Mat Stack Die #1 and added some tea stain dye ink to the edges. 2 wood buttons with twine finish it off. I love that sentiment. Rich is a great dad to Emilia. My dad never really knew how to be a father. He worked all the time so I barely saw him. Now that I am grown we have nothing in common so it is very hard to have a relationship with him. Thankfully my mom made up for it though so I try not to dwell on it. Well that's it for now I hope to be able to stamp more this week. Until then thanks for stopping by and I hope the rest of your weekend is a great one.

Papertrey Peeps Challenges

Happy Tuesday. The week has definitely started off with a bang and I mean that literally! There was an explosion at one of our neighborhood power plants last night and we lost power for about 2 hours. Thankfully the power was not out longer than that because it was almost 100 degrees yesterday. We don't realize how important electricity is until we don't have it. They are still trying to find out what the cause was but fortunately no one was hurt.
I have also been having problems with my migraines again. I have had atypical vestibular migraines for years. They had been doing better but the other night I had what I think was my first visual aura. I was just sitting watching TV when I started having issues with my vision. It kept getting worse and then I started seeing what look like lightening. Very scary. I am assuming it was just another variation to my migraines because I was able to get it to stop once I went in a dark room and took my migraines meds but I am going to the eye doctor this afternoon just to make sure. It has also been over 4 years since my last eye exam too so maybe this was someones way of trying to tell me it was time to go. Hopefully the rest of the week will be less eventful.
Today I am sharing a project with you that is for Lori and Linda's Papertrey Peeps challenges. Lori's was to use the colors red and green without it looking like Christmas. Linda's challenge is a travel theme. This is what I came up with

A personalized luggage/bag tag! I started by cutting the tag shape out of the green polka dot paper from the Pretty Pastels paper pack. Next I stamped the solid airplane with Pure Poppy Ink on Stampers Select white cardstock then cut it out. After that I used the new cloud dies from Papertrey Ink and cut out the cloud shapes from more Stampers Select White cardstock then ran it through my Cuttlebug using the Sizzix dot embossing folder. I stamped the banner with the new Simply Chartreuse Ink then I discovered that the PTI Simple Alphabet letters fit perfectly in the banner so I stamped the name Jack. (If Emilia had been a boy that would have been her name!) I printed out the recipients contact information on a separate piece of cardstock then added it to the back. After piecing it all together I needed to find a way to make the tag waterproof but could not find a premade luggage tag that would fit so I made my own by sewing a pocket from page protectors. A piece of Pure Poppy Ribbon finishes it off.
That's if for now. I hope to be back soon with more things to share. Until then I hope the rest of your week is a great one and thanks for stopping by!

How to Use A Spot Of Tea Digital Stamp Images

Happy June! The weather here has been wonderful and actually feels like summer now. I hope it has been nice where you are too. Emilia and I finished 6th grade last week so we are taking a much needed break now. We were both ready for some time off.
I have not had time to make any new projects but I did make a new video today showing how to use Lauren Meader and Catherine Doucettes New Digital Stamp set A Spot of Tea and wanted to share it with you. When I bought it yesterday I was totally lost on how to use it but I finally figured it out and wanted to share what I learned with others so they will know how use it if they were having problems figuring it out too. As much as I love clear stamps I am loving using digi images as well and the best part is they don't take up any room! I don't know about you but I have so many stamp sets now I am running out of space for them all. I plan on making many things with these images, the cut file and teapot template that go with them soon but in the meantime I hope this helps you understand how to use the digi stamp set. If you have any questions feel free to email me and I will try and answer them for you. In the meantime I hope you find the video helpful and I will be back soon with more things to share.
